Let’s not waste any time with groovy openers on this rainy Wednesday. Here are a few things on my mind. Granted, there are a LOT more things on my mind, but nobody wants to hear about those.

#5 Watching Less Baseball

It’s true. The amount of writing on the local baseball team isn’t a fluke or accident, but the advancement of a trend. Like I said last week, it’s smarter to believe in trends rather than streaks. Starting last year, I watched less baseball. Nothing created this sudden loss of interest in sucking in every inning and detail of a professional sports team. Over time, you start to think more about where your time goes and what you get in return for the time you invest in something. While I have had supporters and gained some revenue from my writings on the game, the St. Louis Cardinals have brought me more heartache than good fortune.

Their recent spike in performance hasn’t drawn me in either, even if it’s good for the city and hardcore baseball fans. Proof that I’m not a bandwagon fan, yet not moving away from the game, a good break is required. Will I go back to writing 3-5 times per week about a team of well-paid grown-ups playing a kid’s game for six months every year? As with anything in life, tomorrow is a promise to no one but the ones I love.
