Buffa's Buffet: Cards, Stella, fried ribs, and good documentaries
All the news that could be pried from my mind at the moment.
My mind is a dark and twisted place, full of movie fascination, a need to connect with cannabis, and the undying desire to feel zero stress for more than five minutes at a time. With that being said, let's get into what is currently living up there that's worth talking about. The buffet has reopened.
SUMMING UP THE CARDS
Same as it ever was, my friends. The Philadelphia Phillies were a team like any other and gave the Cardinals every chance to put Game 1 away and steal Game 2. But the Cardinals didn't do that, seeing zero production from their big bats and only seeing two impact hits (from rookies, Juan Yepez and Nolan Gorman.) If you don't hit, you end up sitting the rest of the playoffs out. Pitching wins titles, but runs push you through the rounds. The NL Central course is set for the Cards next year, but what will they do without the added thrill of an Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina swan song?
PEOPLE WHO NORMALLY HATE DOCUMENTARIES…
They will like the new Nolan Ryan doc, "Facing Nolan." It doesn't overstay its welcome, teaches you a few things about the iconic Texan power pitcher that you may not know about, and enlivens the baseball soul. Skip the think period, and turn on Netflix for some high fall heat.
DO YOU LIKE FRIED RIBS?
If you answered with "no" and aren't a vegetarian, what the heck is wrong with you? The fried ribs at Edibles and Essentials aren't your normal rack of bone, fat, and meat. Smoked in cherry wood, lightly breaded, and deep-fried with more actual meat than grizzle and fat, Matt Borchardt's personal recipe, one designed with his brothers, never disappoints. Pair those chunky pork ribs with a light salad, or just lean into it by adding a towering stack of the best fries in town. Are you hungry yet? I am! Give Mark a hug for me.
