Buffa’s Buffet newsletter hits 1,000 article mark, which brings an update
Good evening, my friends and dear subscribers. I hope the day went well and if it didn’t, well it’s dead now. As far as tonight is concerned, it’s dying so let’s talk about an exciting milestone for the Substack newsletter here.
This is post #999 for the Buffet. The next number gains a digit, and with that comes a new way moving forward. Due to the sheer will of consumerism, big companies, the government, and everything in between, everything is reaching a whole level of stupid expensive. Groceries, bills, medical care, year end taxes, and everything else pulls. As Billy Bob Thornton said in an episode of Landman, the banks don’t wait during harsh times.
Starting with the next post, every other post will be a paid subscriber only post. The day job just can’t cover bills and a resemblance of a life anymore, so there comes a time when a writer has to ask for a little extra for a piece of his mind. One may ask why someone like me can demand such a thing. It’s just opinions and words, after all. But there’s a certain amount of energy that is required to produce that many articles, and I’ve taken the appropriate measures to produce quality work that isn’t recycled from someone else’s persona and comes off as genuine. It’s me all the time.
That’s still just an opinion about an opinion, though. Let’s back it up with what I’ve done since hopping on the internet to write back in 2011:
~KSDK contributor for nine years. Frequent guest on Show Me St. Louis.
~Frequent (and first film critic!) guest on Fox 2’s Studio STL.
~Two blogs with over 1,000 articles. Dose of Buffa over at Wordpress has 1,515 posts. The perished STL Sports Minute had over 1,000 posts from me. Film-Addict carried many movie reviews as well.
~Frequent radio contributor on 97.1 FM, KMOX 1120, and the station formerly known as 590 The Fan. Former radio host at two different stations, including the latter.
~Former member of the St. Louis Film Critics Association and current associate member of the Critics Choice Association.
~Current record holder for consecutive Swedish Fish consumed.
If you really know me, you know I hate talking about my accomplishments and have a hard time accepting compliments at times. Think of this as a way of saying I’ve put my time in and demand a few extra shekels for the trouble.
You’re either in or you’re out. I hope you continue to read what I have to say.

A bargain for the Buffa brain
