Head coaches around the world would love the thought of every player showing up with the downloaded idea of the name on the front of the jersey being more important than the one on the back, but it doesn’t work out that way. The idea can get more warped and lost as the player gets older and plays in more meaningful games, and coaches remain dedicated to it or incorporate something else.

When the St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup five years ago, they were selfless on the ice. Egos, contracts, futures, and anything stuck in between got pushed to the side for the ultimate goal of making it to the promised land. The fourth line became as vital as the top lines.
