The crazy thing about a controversial show is that the hidden message can be lost amidst the chaos of heightened action and drama. Sam Levinson’s HBO series, Euphoria, did show some Quentin Tarantino vibes in its third and final season, but the message remained the same. Fentanyl is slowly but surely destroying the country, almost as fast as hate is.
What Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schaefer, Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo, and company did with Levinson’s material is bring it to tragic life with authority that made every final moment sink in like a nail being driven by a hammer. The violence and language only reflected the dangerous world that drugs can manifest amongst humans. Mix in some entertainment value, and the watchability factor goes through the roof in the final season which concluded on Sunday.
