The dirty little secret that most people forget about movie stars is that they can be pompous, ignorant, needy, and space-sucking souls if you allow them to be. It’s a tale as old as the first time someone yelled “action” on a set. You put someone in the world of Hollywood and shine them up to the world as this well-known commodity of reliability and desire, and something is going to click in that person’s head that they are a new brand of special.
Sure, there’s the Cillian Murphys of the lot who make a movie and then head off back to their sweet Ireland town to hang with the family, but many others get roped into the mad dog appeal of show business and stardom. I don’t exactly place Tom Hardy in that arena, but he’s not immune to the tendencies of the rich and famous who play make believe for a living.
Pissing off Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan on the set of the Paramount Plus series, MobLand, wasn’t a wise move by Hardy. Those are two first class cinema players who command the respect of just about everybody in the game. However, the studio knows it would be dumb to cut loose the true allure of their show. With apologies to those aforementioned talents, the majority of fans don’t tune in to see them.
It’s the unpredictable ball of British fire that is Hardy that brings most eggs to the yard. Taylor Sheridan is used to the star power drama play too. He just dealt with Kevin Costner and Yellowstone, so he’ll handle it. If things do go the dire way, let’s hope they don’t off Hardy’s Harry like they did John Dutton. Have some class!
