More than a recap, less than a sentencing hearing
Ladies and gentlemen, the St. Louis Cardinals are officially back! Cardinal Nation has already enjoyed their first slightly optimistic start, a lead-blowing frown of a loss to follow, and a postponed game due to chaotic Midwest weather to wrap up the opener. Three games into the year and ordinary things are happening.
St. Louis is 2-1 for the official record, but already showing rotational struggles that could have been seen way back in October. Miles Mikolas and Steven Matz each struggled to put in sustainable innings or performance this past weekend against the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates, as in they lost 101 games last year.
Lowly as in their starting lineup on Opening Day made me think of the scene in the baseball classic, Major League, where the Cleveland then-Indians fan tells his buddies after looking at the roster, “who are these fucking guys?”
