The Buffa’s Buffet Podcast: ‘I Like Me’ is a soulful and bittersweet John Candy tribute
A few thoughts on the Cardinals and Blues finish off my first video podcast in seven months.
It’s been a minute since we did two things around here: A mailbag and a podcast with video. So, without further delay, I offer up a few thoughts on the recently released John Candy documentary, I Like Me.
The title is generated from the late actor’s finest on screen moment: Delivering Del Griffith’s rebuttal to the bullying comments from Steve Martin’s Neil. In real life, Candy liked himself and the way he was built just as much as his cinematic creation. But Hollywood and the demands of his niche slice of the movies required a lot and took a lot from him. Produced by Ryan Reynolds and directed by Colin Hanks, this one will make you cry.
Also, I’d pour a tall whisky before my chat near the end about the St. Louis Blues and those damn Cardinals. Since I recorded this on my lunch break, no drinking could be involved. Last night, the local hockey team blew a lead and lost in overtime to Seattle. Right now, they suck and the regular season schedule is already a fifth of the way complete.
In my next post, I’ll offer my thoughts on Jordan Kyrou in the latest mailbag. Tune into the video below for the latest look at my face.
