Carlin speaks the truth. Nice tribute to Shannon, Dream; you really painted a picture. I can picture him in that black nylon windbreaker on a 95 degree day. And it should be written into every Cards’ announcer contract that a 2-2 count with 2 on, 2 out, must be referred to as “deuces wild”.
I will always remember Mike Shannon n the Press-box in back room holding court with a family or two with special needs kids/family member with Mike joking with them and treating them as equals; always classy when I saw him.
He was a special soul who dedicated that time to make others happy. I genuinely think he got more of a kick out of making others smile as he did the actual game at times. Good memory, Carlin!
And a big old HEHE after "wild." He got names wrong and often sounded like he was pouring whiskey in that coffee, but that was just his way of shooting the shit and getting paid to do it. He was fearless. I hope Buck and Shannon are calling a game with a few Redbird legends on the field.
Simply the best!
Mr. Shannon!
