If you’re in the mood for a jazzy-sounding, intricately plotted, and well-acted thriller with a deft touch of suspense, Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag may be in your wheelhouse.
What’s it about? Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett are husband and wife intelligence agents who work for the same British agency whose lives are suddenly under siege when one of them gets intel from a colleague that their spouse may have leaked info about a piece of software with dangerous abilities. The 93-minute movie wastes little time in getting moving. I wouldn’t miss too many opening minutes, so go to the bathroom at home and get there with enough time to get snacks and drinks.
David Koepp’s screenplay is sharp and quick-witted, and the two leads turn in stellar work without any overacting or epic monologues.
